Update - 9/3/08

I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, but Dominic is now able to pull himself into a standing position within his cubical bed! It's clearly a struggle for him, but he can do it. And it doesn't end there. Today he was able to maneuver himself through the hospital corridors in his wheelchair using just his legs. He has a tendency to pull himself to the left because his right leg is still fairly weak, but he moved along with purpose and the doctors and nurses who saw him coming down the hall were simply amazed that he has progressed so much in just a few weeks. Dominic’s dexterity in his left hand has improved significantly since the last update. He is manipulating toys, scratching his ears, rubbing his eyes and even picking his nose! (The doctors agree that nose-picking is considered a fine motor skill). ;) Dominic is clearly experiencing cabin fever as he makes every effort to escape from his bed and head for the door if given even the slightest chance. He’s anxious to get out and play, but he’s not quite steady enough to go exploring. Not just yet. As of today, the doctors have stated that it appears his right arm, leg and his speech will probably take the longest to recover due to the nature of his injury. But we continue to have the highest hopes that he’ll regain it all in due time. He has consistently demonstrated an incredible drive and determination to get back on his own two feet. We’ll continue to keep you posted. Thanks for checking in!

Dear Loperena Family
Hi, my name is Sammie. I am retired from IBM. We have a Prayer Warrior Group and we were notified by Chuck Giza very soon after the accident. He was so touched personally by this accident having come upon it on his way home from work. He requested prayer for little Dominic and all the warriors have been praying for him faithfully. We just found out about the web site from Chuck. He had been updating us all on a regular bases. We really liked seeing pictures of the family and Dominic. It's nice when we can picture him in our minds while we pray. One of our Warriors said she was donating $$$ for gas. This story has touched so many people. It's amazing how God uses people. Dominic and this situation have brought many people together to pray for him and we can see the results almost daily from your reports. We are grateful to Chuck for sharing this with us in the first place so we can all be a part of Dominic's recovery. We are praying that Dominic will have a full recovery and not be impaired in any way. We are looking forward to the day when we can celebrate with you. God is still in the miracle business.

Dear Family
I wanted to share with you some of the notes from the Prayer Warriors that are praying for Dominic and your family. These girls are faithful and were all touched by your family. I sent out your last note about Dominic coming home for a visit and here are their respoinses. We will continue to pray for Dominic and all of your family. We are praising God for what He had done already. Sammie Burch
There are several notes so please scroll down to see them all.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We prayerfully lift up Dominic to You asking You to continue the healing and restoring Dominic's mind, body and soul completely.
You Father are the Great Healer, the Wonderful Provider and Compassionate Friend. All good things come from You.
Dominic knows You are close and constantly holding him in the palm of Your hand. Continue the miracle.
In the sweet name of Jesus, I ask this continued prayer be answered, Amen.

Dear Loperena Family,
Hi once again. We were thrilled to hear from Chuck that little Dominic was able to go home. I am going to send to you The note sent out to the prayer warriors and their responses back. God is really working in his little life and it's so wonderful to see his progress. We are so happy for all of you. Sammie

Dear Warriors
It is so wonderful to be able to share some good news with all of you. I just received a Praise Report from Chuck Giza, the man who came upon the accident involving little Dominic. I want to thank all of you for your prayers. Little Dominic is making a remarkable recovery as you will read in Chuck's note. I'm also sending along a note from Dominic's web site from his Dad. I ask you all to continue to pray for our little guy. He's come a long way but he has a way to go. hugs, Sammie

Two notes below...scroll down.

Hi Sam,
I just wanted to let you know that Dominic is out of the hospital. I
talked with him on the phone this morning. His voice is a little shaky, but
it was so great to hear his little sweet voice, as I have never heard it
before. I also spoke with his Mom. He is walking with leg braces and
getting physical therapy 3 days a week. He is so happy to be home. What a
miracle. Thank you and God Bless you and the warriors for their prayers.

Sincerely, Chuck Giza

Then we had your note from your web site about Dominic's homecoming. Now I'm sending the notes from the Prayer Warriors.

Miracles continue to happen every day and I feel that Dominic is a miracle from God...how awesome that he can be home with his family and the progress of his recovery.
God's Blessings - Pat

Praise the Lord Dorene
